Influenza Vaccine in Pune

Influenza, a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses, circulates globally each year, often peaking in colder months. The virus spreads via droplets from coughing, sneezing, or close contact, leading to symptoms like fever, body aches, cough, and sore throat. While many recover quickly, severe cases can result in pneumonia, worsening of chronic heart or lung diseases, hospitalisation, or even death, particularly in vulnerable populations. Manipal Hospitals in Pune support preventive healthcare by providing access to annual influenza vaccination for children, adults, seniors, and other at-risk groups.

Influenza viruses mutate frequently, necessitating an annually updated vaccine formulation to match circulating strains. Influvac Tetra, Vaxiflu-4, and Fluarix Tetra are all quadrivalent influenza vaccines designed to protect against four types of influenza virus (two A strains and two B strains). While vaccine effectiveness varies by season and strain match, studies consistently show that influenza vaccines reduce the incidence of illness, hospitalisation, and severe complications.

The influenza vaccine for adults protects against infection caused by influenza viruses, which spread easily through droplets from coughs and sneezes. It helps prevent fever, sore throat, body aches, cough, and fatigue, which can disrupt daily activities and academic schedules.
